For Exeter students hunting for next year

Exeter student houses in your inbox minutes after they go live.

We check Exeter's letting agents every few minutes. When a house fits your group's size, budget and streets, we email you, with walking times and whether they're signing now or from March. Premium groups hear first.

One email when we open. Nothing else, and no sharing.

Cancel any time from your account page. We never take money from landlords or agents.

Example alerts: what a group of five with a £170 budget might receive. For example, a 5 bed house on Union Road at £170 per person per week with wifi included, 10 minutes' walk to Streatham campus and 15 to town, signing now.

Group of 5, up to £170 a week each

Every alert names the letting agent and links to the house details.

Good to know for 2027

New renting rules started in May 2026. Three things they change for you.

  • Signing nowSigning from March

    Signing now or from March

Some landlords won't sign a September 2027 tenancy until March 2027. Others sign now. Every alert shows whether the advert says they're signing now or from March.

  • Money up front

A cap on money up front

A holding deposit can be at most a week's rent, and rent in advance at most a month's. We flag adverts that ask for more.

  • Free

    Free contract checks

Questions

Is this run by the University of Exeter?

No. HouseOnTheHunt is independent and run by an Exeter student. We're not connected to the university or the Students' Guild.

Which letting agents do you check?

We only check agents who've said yes, and we're asking Exeter's agents now. Every alert names the agent and links to their advert.

Can everyone in my group get the alerts?

Alerts go to your group's lead by email, which keeps the price low. Forwarding them to your group chat takes a second.

How does the free trial work?

Hunter and Premium start with 2 days free. You add a card when you start, and we email you the day before the trial ends. Cancel before then and you won't be charged. One free trial per group.

What happens when we find a house?

Tap “We signed!” in any alert or on your account page. We'll cancel your plan within a few minutes, so you won't be charged again.

Do you book viewings for us?

No. On Premium, one tap sends your request to the agent, signed with your name, and they reply to you directly. You stay in charge of every conversation.

How do I cancel?

From your account page, any time. Your plan runs to the end of the month you've paid for. Unsubscribing from our emails also stops your plan.

Is my data safe?

We keep only what we need to match houses to your group. When you send a viewing request, the agent sees your name, email, group size and move-in date. Payments go through Stripe, so we never see your card, and you can delete your account and everything in it from your account page.

What about WhatsApp?

We may add WhatsApp later. For now alerts arrive by email.
